Dr. Jim Henry

Dr. Jim Henry was born on October 1, 1937 in Nashville, TN. He was converted at Hopewell Baptist Church in Springfield, TN and baptized into First Baptist Church, Nashville in 1946. In 1960 he was ordained into the ministry at Dalewood Baptist Church in Nashville.

After earning his B.A. degree at Georgetown College, Henry earned his B.D. and M.Div degrees at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

His loving family includes his wife, Jeanette, three children (Kitty, Betsy and Jim II,) and their spouses, and six grandsons.

Dr. Henry is loved and respected throughout the Southern Baptist Convention, where he served as president from 1994 – 1996. He served as pastor of churches in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and is pastor emeritus at First Baptist Church in Orlando. He has also served on many civic boards and councils and has been published in numerous Southern Baptist publications.

As far as Deacon training, Dr. Jim Henry is known as the very best! His Deacon Training video series, "Partners in Ministry and Growth" and "Growing in Character and Commitment" have been used by over 1700 churches around the globe. His Deacon Conferences are well attended throughout the country. What a treat it will be as he shares his wisdom and knowledge on Saturday morning October 9, 2010.
